(image from Wikipedia)If I had my teenage journal handy, I'd find in it the entry from when I had raclette for the first time in France. I think it went something like this: We had dinner with friends of the family tonight. Dinner was something called "raclette" and we basically just had lunch meats heated on this thing in the middle of the table, that also melts cheese. I kept waiting for the main course, but that was it. There was lots of talking and I had a headache.
Since that time, I have actually developed a love of raclette, and I can think of no easier meal for a hot June evening. This month's cooking club will be more about the eating experience than about meal preparation, since what we need are mostly the components to a good raclette meal. I'll put a list of things that we need and then list a few optional things as well. As long as we have the essentials, we'll have a successful meal! Put your name next to the food item you'd like to bring!

You forgot the cornichons (or baby cucumbers, if you like)! Luckily it's still a few days to put it on the list. And also stuffed olives (not part of traditional raclette, but great).
As dessert, how about apple crumble or the recipe on page 92 from The Insider's Guide to Raclette: Hot Raspberries with Vanilla Sauce!
Have Fun!!!
Hey Ladies! I signed up for a class at UVU for a month and a half. Unfortunately, it falls on Thursday nights so I won't be able to make it the next two times, but I will be back after that! Have a great time!
Arg! I'm not going to make it tomorrow. You're probably thinking I'm such a loser, last month I forget! I was asked to be on the #gno panel tomorrow and it's at the same time.
I was so looking forward to this month. I was excited to find out how to pronounce what kind of a party we were having. I keep wanting to say Roulette, I thought there might be food gambling!
Okay, yes, I can't read blog titles, or the calendar!
But, we're leaving out of town Thursday morning anyway. So bummer, I'm still out. I know you were all biting your nails to see if I could still come! I am more fun than Carina anyway!!! Next month!
Um, I'm the one that has lead you and everyone else astray on the date. I'm the one that can't read! We'll miss you ladies!
